Facebook is starting to show its age
“A survey last week revealed that a third of 16 to 34-year-olds had deleted their Facebook account, while around 60 per cent of over-55s now log onto Facebook to catch up with friends” – Glenda Cooper, The Telegraph, 19th April
Question: Do you know who you’re targeting with your social media strategy?
Facebook turned 10 years old earlier this year.
Taking the old rule of thumb that 1 human year = 7 dog years, I’d suggest that this makes Facebook 70 years old in ‘technological terms’.
Maybe it shouldn’t come as such a surprise then, that Facebook is now principally the domain of the ‘silver surfers’, with ‘cooler’ upstarts such as Instagram targeting the younger generation.
So, if your social media strategy is centred upon Facebook, are these the customers you are trying to reach?
Could be time for a rethink?
