1. ChatGPT successfully used to challege parking fine (Feb 2023)

• Motorist received a £100 final notice in respect of drop-off fine at Gatwick Airport
• “In the end, I just typed, ‘write an appeal to a penalty charge notice for driving through Gatwick Airport. I have received final notice, but never received first notice of the penalty’, and straight away it came back with a great response,” Mr Bosley said.
• NCP replied the following day, and reduced the fine to £15, which was the original amount.

2. AI used to write romantic fiction (Mar 2023)

• On the premise that romantic fiction is “so formulaic”, an IT professor suggested that romantic fiction is seen as a genre where you can get ChatGPT to “knock something out”.
• Authors have obviously decried AI citing human creativity, but one admitted that when ChatGPT arrived. “It [made] me really kind of queasy” – it was that good.

1. ChatGPT banned in Italy over privacy concerns (Apr 2023)

• ChatGPT is already blocked in a number of countries, including China, Iran, North Korea and Russia.
• The Italian watchdog said that not only would it block OpenAI’s chatbot but it would also investigate whether it complied with General Data Protection Regulation.

2. Key tech leaders warn against AI (Mar 2023)

• The letter, from Future of Life Institute and signed by luminaries such as Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak, wants AI development above a certain capacity to be halted for at least six months at that level, warning of the risks future, more advanced systems might pose.
