MarkEATing Case Study: Vicars Game Newsletter

Vicars Game - Meat

Challenge

Vicars Game sells far more than just meat – it is a successful independent supplier to trade and public alike from its location in Ashampstead.

Most of Vicars’ trade had come via reputation and by word of mouth – marketing activities have been limited to date.

Yes, Vicars Game does sell meat.....

….but they sell far more than just that!

 Solution

A Newsletter format was suggested as the most effective initial marketing activity for Vicars Game.

  • Content planning – by sitting down and talking with Alan (the owner), a series of topics were identified for future Newsletters.
  • Bespoke photography session – during a 45 min walkround, an online gallery was put together containing hundreds of photos. These were then edited and arranged into themes according to the topics to be covered in upcoming Newsletters.
  • Unique Newsletter format – having understood Alan’s needs, a Graphic Designer put together a Newsletter template to reflect the particular identity of Vicars Game

    Don’t worry – it’s only page 1 of 4, and it’s a picture of a pdf….not the real thing!

Results

Vicars Game received both an online pdf version and printed hard copy versions of the Newsletter, so were able to market themselves both digitally and hand out copies in the shop [note: it is important for businesses who are less comfortable with digital marketing to be able to see/hold/feel something tangible.

Everything was project-managed by MarkEATing, so other than the initial consultation and signing off the Newsletter draft, there was no further input required by Vicars Game.

Finally, as the content for future newsletters had already been discussed at the initial ‘walkround’ meeting,  there was no need for additional meetings….leaving Vicars Game free to concentrate upon selling their produce!
